MMA.chat Privacy Notice

Version 1.1 Effective date: August 14, 2026

MMA.chat is an artificial-intelligence-powered MMA question-and-answer service operated by SmashPicks Studios Inc. ("MMA.chat," "we," "us," or "our"). SmashPicks Studios Inc. also operates SmashPicks.

This notice explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, who may receive it, and the choices available to you.

MMA.chat is limited to users age 18 and older because the terms of our AI provider, Google Gemini, restrict access by people under 18. This is a provider requirement, not a determination that ordinary MMA.chat content is inappropriate for minors.

1. The important points

• Your messages and relevant conversation context are sent to Google Gemini so MMA.chat can generate answers.
• Under Google's terms for the service we use, Google does not use your prompts or MMA.chat's responses to improve its own products. Google may keep limited logs for safety, security, legal compliance, debugging, and service operation.
• If you are signed in, your conversations are saved for up to 30 days so you can return to them, unless you turn on Private Mode.
• We keep conversations and use them to develop and improve MMA.chat, including training our own models. This applies whether or not you have an account, and you can turn it off at any time. If you are not signed in, turning it off also deletes what we have already stored from your browser.
• We keep information for as long as it remains useful for the purposes described in this notice. Except where this notice states a specific period, or where the law requires deletion, we do not commit to deleting information after a fixed time.
• We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use your conversations for advertising.
• We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement on our websites. It does not use cookies or persistent browser storage, and we do not send it chat content or account identifiers.
• Using MMA.chat activity to personalize SmashPicks is on by default, and you can turn it off.

2. Information we collect

When you use MMA.chat without an account

• Conversation content: the questions you send and the answers MMA.chat returns are processed to generate a response. We also save them and use them to develop and improve MMA.chat, including training our own models, unless you turn that off in settings. See section 4.
• A guest identifier: a random identifier stored in essential browser storage. It allows us to count free questions, remember your privacy settings, and record that you passed the age check.
• Abuse-prevention information: our application creates a short-lived pseudonymous token from network information to enforce rate limits, prevent abuse, and control service costs. We do not intentionally store raw IP addresses in our application database. Hosting, security, and network providers may process IP addresses in their own operational and security logs.
• Feedback: ratings such as thumbs up or thumbs down, suggestions and ideas you send us, any comment you write, and — when you choose to send it — the conversation your feedback is about. Where we hold no copy of that conversation, it is sent from your browser at the moment you submit, and only then.

When you create an account

We may also collect:

• Account information: primarily your email address and an authentication identifier supplied by our sign-in provider.
• Saved conversations: your conversations are saved so you can return to them, unless you turn on Private Mode.
• Account and privacy settings: including email preferences and your choices about analysis and SmashPicks personalization.

Creating an MMA.chat account also creates your SmashPicks account. See section 6.

Our authentication provider handles passwords and other sign-in credentials. MMA.chat does not receive or store your password.

Technical and operational records

We create limited records to operate, secure, and maintain the reliability of the service. These may include the general topic of a request, fighters or events recognized by the system, response type, latency, errors, and similar technical information.

These records are designed to exclude message text, account identifiers, guest identifiers, and abuse-prevention tokens. Short-lived event records are converted into aggregate statistics and then deleted. We do not treat information as anonymous merely because one identifier has been removed or transformed.

Website analytics

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic. Depending on the visit, it may process an event timestamp, page path or route, referrer, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device type. Our implementation removes URL query strings and fragments before an analytics event is sent.

Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies or persistent browser storage. Vercel derives a temporary identifier from request information to distinguish visits and discards the associated session data after 24 hours. We do not send chat messages or answers, email addresses, account or guest identifiers, feedback text, or custom interaction events to Vercel Web Analytics, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Information you should not submit

MMA.chat is designed for MMA discussion, not for storing confidential records. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, financial-account credentials, medical records, private legal documents, or other highly sensitive personal information. Do not submit another person's private information unless you have the right to do so.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide and operate MMA.chat;
• generate and display answers;
• maintain your recent conversation history when you are signed in;
• authenticate accounts and provide account features;
• remember your privacy choices;
• prevent fraud, abuse, automated attacks, and excessive use;
• diagnose errors, secure the service, and measure technical performance;
• measure aggregate page visits and traffic sources through Vercel Web Analytics;
• send service-related messages;
• send fight-week or marketing emails only when you opt in;
• retain and analyze conversations to develop and improve MMA.chat, including training our own models, unless you turn that off, as described below;
• personalize SmashPicks using your MMA.chat activity, unless you turn that off, as described below; and
• comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect users, MMA.chat, and others.

4. AI processing and conversation analysis

Google processing is necessary to answer you

MMA.chat uses Google's Gemini API. Your message, relevant conversation context, and information needed to answer the request are sent to Google whenever an answer is generated.

Under Google's terms for the service we use, Google does not use your prompts or MMA.chat's responses to improve its own products. Google may maintain limited prompt, response, IP-address, usage, and technical logs for safety, security, legal compliance, debugging, and service operation. Google's handling of that information is governed by its own terms.

Google applies automated safety filtering as part of generating a response. Some answers may also use Google Search to find current information.

Improvement use is on by default, and you can turn it off

We retain conversations and use them for the purposes listed below, whether or not you have an account. MMA.chat is free to use, and this is part of how it gets better. You can decline at any time:

Limited operational records without message text, and aggregate statistics, are handled separately as described in this notice.

What the permission covers

We may use eligible conversations to:

• evaluate answer quality;
• identify errors and unsafe or unhelpful responses;
• improve prompts, retrieval, tools, and system instructions;
• create redacted evaluation examples and test cases; and
• train, fine-tune, and evaluate models that we operate.

We do not provide your conversations to third parties to train their models.

You can also send us a single conversation without turning on Help improve MMA.chat. If you rate an answer and choose to send the conversation along with your feedback, we may use that conversation for the purposes described above. This applies only to the conversation you sent, and it does not change your setting for anything else. You can withdraw a conversation you sent for as long as we still have it.

While this is on, a member of our team may read your conversations. Access is limited to authorized personnel, and every access is logged with the reviewer, the time, and the reason.

The choice that applied when a message was created is recorded with that message. Turning the setting on later does not authorize use of earlier conversations. Turning it off stops future use, and does what the table above describes to conversations written earlier. It may not be technically possible to reverse aggregate analyses already completed using content while valid permission was in effect.

Private Mode conversations, and conversations created while analysis was off, are excluded.

5. Private Mode

When Private Mode is enabled:

• MMA.chat does not save the conversation to your account or chat history;
• the message is still transmitted to and processed by Google and the infrastructure needed to provide the response;
• short-lived security and abuse-prevention records may remain; and
• limited topic and performance information may be included in aggregate operational statistics, without message text or an account, guest, or abuse-prevention identifier.

Private Mode conversations are not analyzed to improve MMA.chat and are not used to personalize SmashPicks.

One exception, and only at your request. If you rate an answer and choose to send the conversation with your feedback, that conversation is sent from your browser and saved with the feedback. Private Mode keeps no copy on our side, so this can only happen because you chose it — and it applies to that one conversation, not to Private Mode generally. Withdrawing the feedback deletes it.

6. MMA.chat and SmashPicks

MMA.chat and SmashPicks are operated by the same company and share an account system. Creating an MMA.chat account also creates your SmashPicks account. When SmashPicks launches, its own privacy notice will also apply to that account.

If you opt in to marketing email, we may send you messages about both MMA.chat and SmashPicks. Account and security messages are sent when needed even if you have not opted in to marketing.

Cross-product personalization is on by default, and you can turn it off in settings under Personalize SmashPicks using my MMA.chat activity. While it is on, MMA.chat may provide SmashPicks with limited topic signals such as fighters, events, divisions, or types of analysis you appear interested in. Full chat transcripts are not used for routine SmashPicks personalization.

This is a separate control from improvement use in section 4. Turning one off does not turn the other off, and neither is inferred from the other: this one is automated use of your own data to tailor what you see, and that one is a person or a training process reading your content.

Turning this setting off stops future cross-product personalization. It does not delete either product's underlying data; use the deletion controls described below for that.

MMA.chat activity is not used to determine contest eligibility, entry fees, prize eligibility, or pricing.

7. Cookies, analytics, and embedded content

We use essential cookies and similar browser storage where needed to provide the service. These may include:

• a random guest identifier and privacy-preference values, which may remain for up to 400 days;
• authentication cookies set by our sign-in provider when you log in; and
• an essential age-check value.

Vercel Web Analytics does not set analytics cookies or use persistent browser storage. It provides aggregate site-usage reporting without tracking a visitor across websites. We do not use advertising cookies or advertising pixels.

Our email provider may record whether you opened a message or clicked a link so we can measure delivery and interest. Disabling image loading in your email client limits this.

Instagram posts and YouTube videos use a click-to-load design. Those platforms are not contacted merely because you opened an MMA.chat page containing a placeholder. If you choose to load the content, the platform may receive your IP address and browser information and may set cookies or collect information under its own privacy policy.

8. Service providers and other disclosures

We use outside service providers to operate MMA.chat. Depending on their role, they may process account information, conversation content, communications, or technical information on our behalf. The relevant categories are:

These providers may change as the service evolves. We will update this notice when a change materially affects how personal information is collected, used, or disclosed.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

• comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request;
• investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our terms;
• protect the rights, safety, and property of users, MMA.chat, or others; or
• complete a financing, reorganization, merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice requirements.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. Retention

We limit retention according to the type of information and why it is needed.

Deleting a conversation or your account also deletes copies made for analysis, where those copies are still identifiable and locatable. Completed aggregate analyses cannot be reversed.

Deleted information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups or provider recovery systems until those copies are overwritten under the applicable backup cycle, ordinarily no longer than 90 days. Backup copies are not used for ordinary business purposes and are restored only for disaster recovery or security needs.

We may retain limited information longer when required by law, needed to resolve disputes, protect the service, investigate abuse, enforce agreements, or document compliance. When possible, we isolate such information from ordinary use.

Where this notice does not state a specific period, we retain information for as long as it remains useful for the purposes described here, and we do not commit to deleting it after a fixed time. This applies in particular to conversation content used to develop and improve MMA.chat. Two limits always apply: we honor deletion rights that the law gives you, and we honor the in-app controls described in section 10.

10. Your choices and privacy requests

Controls available in MMA.chat

You can use the application's settings to:

• use Private Mode;
• enable or disable Help improve MMA.chat;
• enable or disable Personalize SmashPicks using my MMA.chat activity;
• opt in to or unsubscribe from fight-week and marketing emails;
• delete saved conversations;
• delete guest data associated with the current browser; and
• delete your account and associated active data.

Access, correction, deletion, and export

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal information associated with you. You may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, appeal a denied request, and receive equal service when exercising privacy rights.

Submit a request to joe@smashpicks.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and we accept requests submitted by an authorized agent on your behalf. If an applicable law grants you a right to appeal a decision, you may appeal by replying to our response.

Guest-data limitation

When you use MMA.chat without an account, the current browser's guest identifier is normally the only way the service can locate guest data. The in-app deletion control can delete data associated with that identifier. If the browser storage has been cleared, replaced, or is unavailable, we may be unable to identify which guest records are yours without collecting additional information that we do not otherwise need.

Aggregate statistics, records that no longer contain information reasonably linkable to a person or household, and completed aggregate analyses may not be capable of being associated with or deleted for a particular person.

11. Age restriction

MMA.chat is limited to people who are at least 18 years old because the terms governing our use of Google Gemini prohibit us from offering the Gemini-powered chat service to users under 18 and restrict applications likely to be accessed by them.

This age restriction is based on Google Gemini's provider terms. It is not a content rating and does not mean that ordinary MMA discussion on MMA.chat is inherently inappropriate for minors.

Before you can use the chat, we ask you to confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you accept our Terms and this notice. We record only that you confirmed, when you confirmed, and which version of these documents applied. We do not ask for, and do not store, your birth date or your age.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, including children under 13. If we learn that a person under 18 used MMA.chat or provided personal information, we will take reasonable steps to block access and delete identifiable information associated with that person. A parent or guardian may contact joe@smashpicks.com.

12. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, restricted internal review paths, logging of access to conversation content, short retention periods, and separation of operational data from direct identifiers where practical.

No internet service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting access to your email account, device, and MMA.chat session.

13. International processing

MMA.chat is operated from the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they or their subcontractors operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live.

MMA.chat is not currently marketed or offered specifically to residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

14. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the service changes. We will update the version and date above and, for a material change, provide notice in the service before the change takes effect when reasonably practicable.

We will not retroactively apply a newly expanded permission to use older conversations for analysis or cross-product personalization. A material expansion of either use will require a new choice from the user whose data would be affected.
